This post, aimed at the pet rabbit owner, will present information and advice for how to avoid accidental death by lethal pressure crush. -Never stack rabbit cages on top of one another -Provide at least 7.5 square feet of living space per rabbit -Keep doors to the room that the rabbits are housed in closed when no one is tending to them. Not only will this post provide information and advice for pet owners, it will also be a reminder that just because something seems small, such as stacking cages on top of one another or leaving a room with rabbits, might seem like harmless actions, they can lead to serious injury and death. The following article is an excerpt from the post Lethal Pressure Crush Rabbit with a photo of a deceased rabbit named “Ebony” “I know it sounds absolutely horrible but Ebony was only a couple months old when this happened to her. We thought she had a minor injury from playing with my wife's heels until she went limp in my arms and died within minutes. She was only about 5 inches long. I'm sharing this because it is so easily preventable. Please find out how not to kill your rabbit by crushing them.” 1) DO NOT PUT THEM UP STAIRS 2) DO NOT USE ADJUSTABLE CAGES (or leave them open) 3) DO NOT USE WALL CAGES (or leave them open) 4) DO NOT BUY SUPER BUNNY OR OVERHEATED RABBITS. You can often tell if a rabbit has been recently purchased because the ears will be small (like Ebony's), the eyes will be very small, and the fur will be wet and oily/greasy looking. eccc085e13
